Mentor4Success helps Portland-area high school and young adult students access higher education. Mentor4Success provides low-income students, first generation students, and students of color with the tools they need to succeed in school and in life.
This is accomplished through:
Each month the Black United Fund of Oregon hosts professionals from our community to give presentations on their career and field to a small group of students.
BUF Staff and a variety of community volunteers work to coach students through college admissions applications, scholarship applications, and more.
SCHOLARSHIP WRITING WORKSHOPS & School presentations
Utilizing the culturally-congruent Path to Scholarship(R) curriculum, The Black United Fund of Oregon offers free education workshops in partnership with Portland high schools to help students successfully apply for and access scholarships. The Black United Fund of Oregon is the only organization trained to deliver this award-winning curriculum. This is often combined with financial education workshops, particularly centered on financing college and managing debit. Scholarship Writing Workshops require 4+ hours, while resource presentations can be from 30 minutes to 2-hours.
