ALBERTA CENTER FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The Alberta Project, an initiative of the Black United Fund of Oregon, is a revitalization effort currently taking place in inner Northeast Portland. The project seeks to restore a 70 year-old warehouse to create a community resource that brings together nonprofit agencies, minority businesses and a cultural center. The Alberta Project is designed to improve neighborhood livability by serving as a hub for community development and contributing to a broader understanding of our state's diversity.

The mixed-use facility will house the Center for Community Development, the Northeast Business Center, and the Heritage Center.

The Center for Community Development will improve the ability of non-profit organizations to better serve community residents through training, strategic planning, and resource development.

The Northeast Business Center will provide access to office space and administrative services for minority, small and emerging businesses.

The Heritage Center will preserve and interpret the historical experiences and achievements of Africans in the Americas through art, special exhibits, lectures, and other mediums.
