UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS
The Ron Herndon Scholarship began in 1994, giving three students $500 each towards college tuition. Today Black United Fund of Oregon awards five $1,500 one time scholarships each year to African-American students graduating from high schools in Oregon and S.W. Washington. Students with a GPA of 2.75 or greater, record of community service and financial need may apply for this scholarship.
The Willamette University Partnership Scholarship began in 2000. Each year offering two $15,000 four year renewable scholarships to African-American students graduating from high school with a GPA of 3.0 or greater, record of community services, and financial need. University of Portland Partnership Scholarship began in 2003 offering three $12,000 renewable scholarships awarded each year, special consideration given to African American students that live in North & Northeast Portland with a 3.40 GPA or higher. Lewis & Clark College: five scholarships ranging from $5,000 up to full unmet financial need. Linfield School of Nursing Partnership Scholarship is our most recent partnership, establish in 2006. The Black United Fund of Oregon and Linfield School of Nursing-Portland Campus invite African-American students who are interested in pursuing a degree in Nursing or Health Sciences to apply for a one $7,000 annual tuition, renewable scholarship for a maximum of 3 years.
